The Mitsubishi Evo has always been near and dear to CSF. There is no arguing that the Evo shares a special place among the ranks of the JDM legends and with good reason. The 4G63 is capable of incredible power and paired with Mitsubishi’s AWD system, the Evo is a monster on and off the road.
Many Evo 7, 8, and 9 owners have relied upon CSF Radiators to keep their high horsepower DSMs cool for years. The Ultimate Half Radiator (CSF #2858X/2858XB) is one of CSF’s most popular universal radiators, and has become over the years the “Go-To” option for Evo owners running large turbos with forward facing manifolds that won’t fit with a full size radiator. The demand for those half radiators has been so high that Turn 14 Distribution asked CSF to design a half rad specifically for the Evo 7, 8, and 9.
This new radiator enters the market at a lower price point meant to be a more economical solution for the cost conscious customer compared to the more feature-rich kit of the CSF #2858X/2858XB. With that being said, CSF’s new Evo half rad has a full suite of new and innovative features incorporated into the design, more than any other competitor with a similar product on the market. Available in a 1 Hour “Mirror Finish” Hand Polish (CSF #7228) and a Satin Black Finish (CSF #7228B) for High-End Stealth look.
This Half Radiator is also compatible with the CSF 12-inch high performance SPAL fan and shroud kit. This can be added-on or purchased separately at any time (CSF #2858F / #2858FB).
CSF vs the competition
CSF took all the customer feedback received over the years from the Ultimate Evo Full-Slim Radiator (CSF #7075 / #7075B) and Ultimate Half Radiator (CSF #2858X/2858XB) to create the most user friendly and feature rich half radiator on the market.
Adjustable Mounting Bracket
Manufacturing tolerances, age, and other outside factors can make fitting your new parts a bit of a pain. CSF made the top mounting bracket adjustable to make it just a little bit easier for owners to install the radiator and ensure good fitment.
Adjustable Breather Pipe
With large turbo installations and custom builds the routing of hoses can be a challenge. Ideal pathing might not fit the original configuration. CSF designed the breather pipe on the filler neck to be 2-way adjustable. This gives owners more options for the location and routing of their overflow hose and tank.
Temperature Sensor Port
Monitoring coolant temperatures is important on high horsepower builds and racing applications. Aftermarket temperature gauges are very common on Evo builds and CSF wanted to ensure it was easy for customers to install theirs. CSF includes a 1/8th NPT port on the bottom tank for easy installation of the most popular aftermarket temperature sensors. An NPT plug is also included for those who are not running temp sensors or have one already installed in a different location.
Finish options
While not a performance feature, CSF understands that engine bay styling is important to many enthusiasts. The CSF Black Series radiators have been incredibly popular for the Evo, so the new Half Radiator is available in both CSF’s famous 1 Hour “Mirror Finish” Hand Polish (CSF #7228) as well as CSF’s Satin Black Finish from it’s growing Black-Series (CSF #7228B).
Optional Fan Shroud Kit
The CSF Half-Rad Fan Shroud Kit – CSF #2858F (Polished) and #2858FB (Black) is also compatible with this new Evo Half Rad. The Fan Shroud kit is a direct bolt-on upgrade that includes a 909 CFM 12″ SPAL puller fan. This upgrade is a great way to improve cooling efficacy at idle or low speeds.
